Experience
Presently, I am a tutor who is able to work with a student in any mathematical discipline (elementary/middle school math, algebra, trig, calculus, geometry, etc.). I am an undergrad student at Temple University working towards a bachelor's degree in Education, with a major in middle school math and science education. Because of my background, I feel prepared to help a student in areas of math with patience and understanding. I am able to work with a student to figure out ways for them to learn best and for me to develop teaching techniques specific to that student. It is important for a student to use critical thinking and problem solving skills when math solving problems. Furthermore, these skills can not only be applied to math, but can be applied outside of homework as well. I try and create a space where the students are comfortable asking questions, answering my questions and sharing ideas with each other. I firmly believe that learning from one another's peer's through social interactions is extremely important. I encourage the students to practice math questions and thoughts with their peers so that they can also learn different ways to look at a problem and that there may be more than one way to get to an answer. When I am not teaching, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, doing puzzles, and spending time with friends.
